School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Compensation: $36.00 / Hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to serve the student population in Butler, AL. This part-time role focuses on removing communication barriers for students in K-12, ensuring they have the tools to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Working within the Choctaw County School System, you will act as a primary resource for speech and language development, collaborating closely with a tight-knit team of educators and parents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Intervention: Deliver direct therapy to students with articulation, language, fluency, and voice disorders, as well as those with complex communication needs.
  • Assessment & Identification: Conduct diagnostic evaluations to identify students with speech-language impairments and determine eligibility for services under IDEA.
  • IEP Development: Lead the creation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), setting measurable, academic-based goals and tracking progress diligently.
  • Case Management: Maintain a small-to-midsize part-time caseload, ensuring all annual reviews and re-evaluations are completed on schedule.
  • Collaborative Consultation: Partner with classroom teachers to provide strategies for language-rich environments and suggest accommodations for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Compliance & SETS: Complete all mandated documentation using Alabamas SETS (Special Education Tracking System), ensuring 100% compliance with state and federal regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.
  • Licensure: * Current Alabama State License (ABESPA).

    • Valid ALSDE Professional Educator Certificate (Class A).
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is preferred; however, Clinical Fellows (CFY) with strong supervision plans may be considered.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a school-based setting or pediatric clinic is highly desirable.
  • Background: Must pass a mandatory Alabama state background check and fingerprinting.
  • Skills: Strong time-management skills, ability to work independently in a rural setting, and proficiency in digital documentation.
