About the job Physical Therapist
Sunshine Pediatric Day Center is seeking a licensed and experienced Physical Therapist to provide coordinated and comprehensive care to pediatric patients. The Physical Therapist will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing treatment programs designed to restore and maintain each childs physical function and well-being. This role works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support the overall health goals of medically complex minors.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform initial and ongoing clinical assessments to determine the needs of pediatric patients

Develop and revise individualized Plans of Care in coordination with the attending physician and interdisciplinary team (IDT)

Deliver therapeutic interventions and evaluate the need for durable medical equipment as appropriate

Assess patient progress and outcomes, ensuring proper discharge planning and continuity of care

Apply infection control principles and standard precautions in all aspects of patient care to prevent contamination and disease transmission

Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) as applicable

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with SPDC standards and regulatory requirements

Meet all mandatory continuing education and competency requirements as defined by the center

Adhere to and promote compliance with all administrative and clinical policies of the center

Actively participate in center-wide meetings and collaborative care initiatives
Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) accredited program
-
Current and valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Texas under the Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 453

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a pediatric healthcare setting

Demonstrated knowledge of physical therapy skills in accordance with recognized standards of practice

Familiarity with and ability to recommend/use durable medical equipment

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills

Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:

Prolonged periods of sitting and operation of standard office and therapy equipment

May be required to lift and transfer patients weighing up to 50 pounds

Frequent bending, standing, and physical activity required to deliver therapy services

Must be able to manage high-stress situations in a calm and professional manner
-
Work may include exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
-
Must be capable of meeting deadlines and fulfilling the needs of a dynamic, pediatric-centered environment
