About the job CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
The primary function of this position is to provide personal care and related services to minors, assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment, and work cooperatively with minors, parents, the interdisciplinary team (IDT), and the community. The CNA will share observations and concerns with the supervisor and work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Possess a high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
- Demonstrate sufficient skills to meet competency and training requirements.
- Maintain current certification in Pediatric Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and basic First Aid.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrates sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Able to read, write, and comprehend English.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged sitting and standing required.
- Ability to operate office and medical equipment.
- Heavy lifting, bending, and stretching may be required.
- May be required to lift and move patients up to 50 pounds.
- Requires ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner at all times.
- Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and center needs.
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN and according to the care plan.
- Assist patients with safe transfers and ambulation per center policy.
- Monitor and document vital signs and report changes in patient condition.
- Report any adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Maintain infection control practices and promote a clean, safe environment.
- Foster positive, supportive, and respectful communication with minors, parents, and the IDT.
- Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and respect in all care activities.
- Assist with patient nutrition and ensure adequate fluid intake.
- Educate and provide support to patients families as needed.
- Adhere to and promote center policies.
- Attend meetings and in-services as required by the center.
