Your Superpowers (aka Responsibilities):

  • Create Engaging Levels: Design fun, clear, and evolving levels that balance difficulty, pacing, and player progression.
  • Design From Zero to Live: Take ownership at all stages from building first playable levels with minimal input to fine-tuning them based on real-world metrics.
  • Drive the Vision: Take ownership of the overall level design direction from gameplay feel to pacing philosophy, ensuring consistency and quality across all content.
  • Data-Driven Design: Analyze player data to identify pain points, enhance low-performing levels, and boost key metrics such as Retention and Engagement.
  • Prototype & Evolve: Plan, Prototype, and Release new mechanics and level ideas to keep gameplay fresh and innovative.
  • Quality: Review and maintain high standards for levels, both yours and those created by the team.
  • Scale for Success: Design scalable systems and level design frameworks that will grow with the game from 50 levels to 500+ without losing balance or creativity.
  • Grow the Team: As our first Level Designer, you'll set the standard for quality, build scalable workflows, define what 'great' Level Design looks like, and shape how we build content going forward.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Game Designers, Artists, QA, and Devs to align level design with broader gameplay and business goals.
  • Market Awareness: Track trends, competitor features, and best practices to continuously improve level design strategies.

 

The Ideal Hero (aka Requirements)

  • Puzzle & Casual Pro: You have strong experience designing levels for mobile Puzzle, Casual, and Hybridсasual games
  • Strong Fundamentals: Solid understanding of level design principles, difficulty balancing, progression systems, and what keeps players engaged.
  • Player-Centric Approach: You deeply understand what motivates players and how to design experiences they love.
  • Analytical Mindset: Comfortable working with metrics from level drop-off to win rate and monetization impact.
  • Business-Aware Designer: You see level design not just as gameplay, but as a driver of retention, engagement, and revenue.
  • Creative & Strategic Thinking: You bring fresh ideas and can justify them both from a gameplay and business perspective.
  • Technical Awareness: You understand the tools behind level creation, can build efficient systems, and know when to automate to save time and scale smarter.
  • Adaptable & Proactive: You work independently, spot issues before they surface, and polish your designs to a high standard.
  • Great Team Player: You communicate clearly and collaborate smoothly with designers, developers, artists, and analysts.
  • Passionate About Games: You genuinely enjoy playing and dissecting casual games, and you know what makes a level memorable.
