Manufacturing Process Engineer - Electromechanical Assembly
About the job Manufacturing Process Engineer - Electromechanical Assembly
Role Overview
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer supporting Complex Electromechanical Assembly, you will advise and assist our clients with end-to-end manufacturing process development, line bring-up, fixture validation, and production readiness for next-generation products. You will bridge the gap between our client's hardware engineering teams and the global supply base, ensuring that advanced electromechanical assemblies meet rigorous targets for cost, quality, and delivery. You will play a key role in improving production yield, assembly quality, cycle time, and long-term manufacturing stability for high-volume consumer electronics products at contract manufacturing sites in Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Process Development: Drive manufacturing process development for complex electromechanical products, with a focus on FATP, final assembly, test, and pack processes. Define and optimize production flows.
- NPI & Production Readiness: Participate in NPI activities from EVT, DVT, and PVT stages through mass production. Lead line layout planning, line bring-up, fixture buy-off, and line qualification activities.
- Supplier Performance & Factory Execution: Work closely with contract manufacturers to manage production yield, process quality, and factory execution. Audit manufacturing processes, fixtures, and test equipment.
- DFM/DFA Execution: Conduct DFM analysis and provide manufacturability feedback to engineering teams. Support tolerance stack-up analysis and DFA review to improve assembly feasibility.
- Fixture & Automation Sourcing: Collaborate with equipment vendors, automation teams, and contract manufacturers to develop assembly fixtures, automation equipment, and validate tooling.
- Yield Improvement: Lead failure analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Apply DOE methodology to identify process windows and improve production stability.
- Repair Process Qualification: Support repair process development, validation, and repair qualification activities. Ensure repair processes meet product quality and traceability requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in manufacturing process engineering, mechanical engineering, automation engineering, NPI, or high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing.
- Commodity Expertise: Strong understanding of electromechanical manufacturing and assembly processes, FATP, final assembly, test, and pack.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Knowledge of mechanical and cosmetic part manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, stamping, injection molding, surface treatment, polishing, and coating.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with CAD tools such as ProE, Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent tools. Strong background in DFM, DFA, DOE, failure analysis, and root cause analysis.
- Global Execution: Experience working with contract manufacturers, equipment vendors, supply chain partners, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Language: Fluent in English to effectively interface with international clients and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Mandarin to effectively interface with regional suppliers in Taichung, Taiwan.
- Experience with repair process development and repair qualification.
- Experience operating in an embedded-client environment or delivering integrated supply chain solutions.
