Confectioner and Baker

 Job Description:

Our client is a prominent private company that owns a number of established outlets in the Western Cape. They are expanding and have a need for enthusiastic people to support this growth, which includes a Confectioner and Baker.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning
  • Plan daily and weekly baking schedules
  • Organise the production process from start to finish
  • Make sure equipment is used properly
  • Allocate staff to tasks for smooth workflow
  • Track ingredient usage for each recipe
  • Ingredient & Recipe Control
  • Manage flour and cold storage areas
  • Follow and check recipes for accuracy
  • Keep quality consistent across all products
  • Stock Management
  • Keep stock levels healthy and order when needed
  • Accept and check deliveries
  • Watch for wastage and reduce it where possible
  • Move stock between areas when required
  • Maintain product quality and range
  • Support promotions with the right products in stock
  • Customer Orders
  • Prepare and fulfil customer orders on time

Requirements:

  • Education & Training
  • Matric / NQF Level 4 or equivalent

  • Recognised technical qualification in confectionery or baking

Experience

  • At least 3 years hands-on baking experience

Skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Strong numeracy skills

  • Able to cost recipes accurately

  • Skilled in baking and product decoration

Knowledge

  • Solid product knowledge

  • Understanding of the full production process

  • Cold chain management

  • Bakery manufacturing processes

  • Correct use and care of equipment

  • Hygiene, housekeeping, and safety standards

  • Awareness of bakery trends

Salary - Market related

Working hours - Monday to Sunday, Rotational shifts
