Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Fruit and Veg Manager to lead the department at their Athlone store. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a profitable, efficient, and customer-focused Fruit and Veg department while managing daily operations and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Fruit and Veg department.
  • Ensure excellent customer service every customer should feel valued and appreciated.
  • Handle customer queries, suggestions, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Manage receiving, cutting, packing, and merchandising of stock in line with company standards.
  • Monitor department performance and ensure profitability through effective cost control.
  • Maintain stock levels, reduce wastage, and minimise shrinkage.
  • Plan and execute promotional activities in collaboration with store management.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule staff; ensure adherence to company policies and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and address any staff issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with company rules, security procedures, and operational standards.
  • Support the achievement of store performance targets set by senior management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
  • Minimum 12 years Fruit & Veg Department management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a retail store environment.
