Job Title and Overview

The ACL trainer plays a critical role in ensuring that users have the knowledge and skills to effectively utilize ACL software for the purposes of data analysis. They contribute to the success of organizations by empowering users to leverage ACL software to improve efficiency, accuracy, and insight in their work.

Reporting to: Head of Services

Reason for vacancy: Team expansion

Management level of role: This is not a management role.

Working environment & travel: Exceptionally busy, team-orientated environment. Drivers license and own transport is essential. Possible travel into the rest of Africa (max 2 weeks at a time).

Working hours: 08h00 to 16h30, training hours are usually 09h00 16h00

Key Responsibilities

Expert Knowledge: Display expert knowledge in Audit Command Language and data analysis techniques.

Conduct Training Sessions: Conducting training sessions using ACL software, including both basic and advanced commands and functionalities, for individuals or groups of users. This may involve developing presentations, manuals, and exercises.

Develop Training Materials: Design, develop and update training materials, including user guides, manuals, and online resources, to support the implementation and usage of the ACL software.

Customize Training Programs: Tailoring training programs to meet the specific needs of clients or organizations, including designing custom exercises and case studies to address their unique requirements.

Practical Exercises: Provide practical exercises to familiarize users with the functionality and navigation of the ACL software, ensuring they can effectively utilize its features to address their data analysis objectives.

Stay Updated with Software Updates: Keep abreast of software updates, new features, and enhancements released by the software vendor, and incorporate relevant information into training materials and sessions to ensure users are informed of the latest capabilities.

Evaluation and Feedback: Assessing trainee performance and progress through exercises, quizzes, and practical assessments. Providing constructive feedback to help individuals improve their skills and understanding of ACL software.

Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation and knowledge bases related to ACL software training, including FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and user tips, to support ongoing user education and self-service support options.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.

Prior experience in training delivery, preferably in the field of data analysis, audit, risk, or compliance

Proficiency in using ACL software solutions, such as ACL Analytics and ACL GRC, and familiarity with other relevant tools and platforms.

Proficiency in SQL or other programming languages.

Adaptability: The candidate should be adaptable to different learning styles, skill levels, and training environments. They should be able to adjust their training approach and content delivery methods to accommodate the diverse needs of trainees and respond to unexpected situations or challenges during training sessions.

Patience: Patience is crucial when working with trainees who may have varying levels of experience or proficiency with ACL software. They should be patient and supportive when addressing trainee questions, concerns, or difficulties, and provide guidance and encouragement as needed.

Critical Thinking Skills: ACL trainers should possess strong problem-solving skills to address technical issues, troubleshoot software problems, and find creative solutions to trainee challenges or questions. This includes the ability to think critically, analyze problems, and identify effective solutions in real-time during training sessions.

Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal skills are important for ACL trainers to build rapport and establish positive relationships with trainees. This includes being approachable, friendly, and professional, and demonstrating respect, empathy, and understanding towards trainees from diverse backgrounds.
