Job Purpose

To ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and maintenance of all mechanical systems and equipment within the facilities, primarily focusing on HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression systems to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Operation and Maintenance: Oversee the operation, repair, and preventive maintenance programs for critical mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, central air conditioning, boilers, chillers, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), and plumbing networks (water/sewage).
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical failures or operational issues with equipment promptly to minimize facility downtime.
  • Project Management: Manage projects related to mechanical system upgrades, replacements, and installations, ensuring compliance with design specifications, budget, and schedule.
  • Energy Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to optimize the energy consumption and efficiency of mechanical systems, contributing to sustainability goals.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all mechanical systems and maintenance procedures adhere to local safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations, especially related to pressure vessels, ventilation, and fire protection.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Supervise and coordinate the activities of specialized mechanical contractors, ensuring quality control and adherence to service level agreements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from a recognized university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the operation, maintenance, and management of large-scale mechanical systems within commercial, institutional, or government facilities.
  • Skills:

    • In-depth technical knowledge of HVAC design, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and building mechanical codes.
    • Proven experience managing Preventive, Corrective, and Condition-Based maintenance programs.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and technical specifications.

    • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) for mechanical equipment monitoring and control is highly preferred.
