Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lean Engineer to support the Project in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing Lean Construction principles and continuous improvement initiatives to improve project efficiency, reduce waste, optimize workflows, and enhance productivity across project activities.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • BSc, BEng, BA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Professional certification in Lean, Lean Six Sigma, or related methodologies will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of total professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant/similar experience in Lean Construction, project improvement, or construction project management.
  • Experience implementing Lean principles on large-scale construction, infrastructure, or development projects is preferred.
  • Qatar/GCC project experience will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Lean Construction strategies and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, delays, bottlenecks, and sources of waste within project activities.
  • Implement Lean methodologies to improve workflow, productivity, quality, and resource utilization.
  • Facilitate Last Planner System (LPS), pull planning, look-ahead planning, and weekly work planning sessions.
  • Work closely with project management, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and site teams to improve construction processes.
  • Conduct regular site observations and process reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor planned versus actual performance and identify areas requiring corrective action.
  • Support the development and implementation of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and process improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate Lean workshops, training sessions, and awareness programs for project personnel.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and collaborative problem-solving across the project team.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, workflow, quality, and project performance.
  • Assist project teams in identifying and eliminating waste, rework, waiting time, excess movement, overproduction, and inefficient processes.
  • Support coordination between different disciplines to improve workflow and minimize construction conflicts.
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations highlighting Lean implementation, project performance, and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the planning and project controls teams to align Lean initiatives with project schedules and milestones.
  • Support the implementation of standard work procedures and process optimization initiatives.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvement measures and recommend further actions where required.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Construction principles and methodologies.
  • Practical experience with Last Planner System, Pull Planning, Look-Ahead Planning, Value Stream Mapping, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and project workflows.
  • Ability to analyze processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop practical improvement solutions.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good knowledge of project planning, productivity measurement, and performance monitoring.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant project planning/reporting tools.
