Assistant Resident Engineer - Road Works

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer – Road Works to support the Resident Engineer in supervising and managing road construction activities for the Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that road works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.

Educational Qualification

•  Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
•  BSc, BEng, BA, or equivalent qualification preferred.

Experience

•  Minimum 10 years of total professional experience.
•  Minimum 5 years of relevant/similar experience in road construction and infrastructure projects.
•  Experience in supervision of major road and infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Key Responsibilities
•  Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising and managing all road construction activities.
•  Monitor site works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
•  Supervise road works including earthworks, excavation, grading, subgrade, sub-base, road base, asphalt paving, kerbs, drainage, and associated infrastructure works.
•  Review construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and technical submissions.
•  Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
•  Monitor the quality and progress of road construction works.
•  Inspect materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with approved standards.
•  Review and comment on inspection requests, material submissions, shop drawings, and technical documents.
•  Identify construction issues, discrepancies, and potential delays and report them to the Resident Engineer.
•  Assist in monitoring project progress against the approved construction schedule.
•  Ensure proper implementation of quality control and quality assurance procedures.
•  Coordinate with survey teams to verify levels, alignments, coordinates, and setting-out works.
•  Monitor testing and inspection activities for road materials and construction works.
•  Maintain site records, daily reports, inspection records, and other relevant project documentation.
•  Ensure that contractors comply with project HSE requirements and applicable regulations.
•  Attend site meetings and provide technical input and progress updates.
•  Support the Resident Engineer in resolving technical and construction-related issues.

Required Skills

•  Strong knowledge of road construction and infrastructure works.
•  Good understanding of road materials, pavement construction, drainage, earthworks, and asphalt works.
•  Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
•  Strong site supervision and contractor coordination skills.
•  Good knowledge of quality control and inspection procedures.
•  Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
•  Ability to manage multiple site activities and work effectively under project deadlines.
