We are currently supporting a client in their search for a skilled Gas / Elevator Engineer to join their growing team.

Job Purpose Summary:

The Gas / Elevator Engineer is responsible for overseeing the safe operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of gas distribution systems and vertical transportation systems. The role ensures reliable system performance in accordance with applicable standards and life-safety requirements, oversees contractors, and enforces SLA and KPI performance. The position ensures all maintenance activities are tracked through CAFM systems and supports procurement planning, tendering activities, and technical evaluations to maintain system integrity and operational reliability.

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Performance Management & SLA Monitoring
    • Monitor and enforce compliance with SLA and KPI requirements for all gas and elevator service providers.
    • Identify performance gaps and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
    • Provide regular performance reports and recommendations for system improvement.
    • Ensure all maintenance activities, inspections, and performance data are recorded and monitored through CAFM systems.
    • Define and monitor minimum, maximum, and critical spare parts for gas systems and elevators.
    • Ensure availability of critical components required for emergency response and system reliability.
    • Coordinate with Storekeeper and Procurement Officer to ensure timely availability of required materials
    • Develop and maintain annual PPM schedules for Gas / Elevator systems in compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Validate all contractor deliverables, maintenance reports, and testing results to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Gas Systems Operation & Maintenance:
    • Oversee the operation and maintenance of centralized LPG and natural gas distribution systems.
    • Ensure safe and continuous gas supply across all facilities.
    • Monitor system performance, pressure levels, and distribution integrity.
    • Monitor and evaluate contractor performance against defined KPIs, SLAs, and safety requirements.
    • Ensure proper functioning of gas infrastructure, including pipelines and control systems.
    • Coordinate maintenance and servicing of gas systems with specialized contractors.
  • Elevator & Vertical Transportation Management:
    • Manage service contracts for elevators, escalators, and vertical transportation systems.
    • Ensure systems operate safely with maximum uptime and minimal service disruption.
    • Monitor and evaluate contractor performance against defined KPIs, SLAs, and safety requirements.
    • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are implemented and adhered to.
    • Support continuous improvement of system performance and reliability.
  • Safety Inspections & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Conduct mandatory safety inspections, testing, and certifications for gas and elevator systems.
    • Coordinate monthly inspections and load testing with third-party service providers.
    • Ensure compliance with Qatar Civil Défense (QCDD), WOQOD and other regulatory standards.
    • Ensure timely closure of all observations and non-compliance issues identified by regulatory authorities and third-party inspectors.
    • Monitor functionality of gas detection systems, emergency shut-off valves, and safety mechanisms.
    • Maintain compliance with applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Emergency Response & Incident Management:
    • Respond immediately to gas leaks, elevator entrapments, or system failures.
    • Lead emergency response and coordinate rescue and repair activities.
    • Ensure proper escalation and reporting of incidents.
    • Coordinate with HSEQ and emergency services when required.
    • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of incidents.
  • Documentation, Testing & Compliance Records:
    • Maintain detailed records of gas pressure tests, inspections, and maintenance activities.
    • Maintain elevator service logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
    • Ensure all inspection, testing, and maintenance records are properly documented and maintained within CAFM systems for audit and compliance purposes.
    • Ensure documentation is properly recorded for audits and regulatory inspections.
    • Support compliance audits by providing accurate and up-to-date records.
    • Maintain traceability of system maintenance and testing history.
  • Asset Lifecycle & Technical Advisory:
    • Advise the Head of FM on lifecycle replacement of gas infrastructure and elevator systems.
    • Identify aging components and recommend upgrades or replacements.
    • Support asset management by maintaining accurate records of system components, performance history, and lifecycle data.
    • Support long-term capital planning for critical systems.
    • Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements.
    • Contribute to risk mitigation strategies related to critical infrastructure.
  • Procurement & Technical Support
    • Prepare technical specifications, scope of work, and tender documents for gas systems and elevator services.
    • Participate in technical evaluation of contractor submissions and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Provide input for procurement planning based on system condition, criticality, and operational needs.

Education & Professional Certificates

Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.

Certificates:

Preferred Certifications:

  • Health & Safety certifications (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Elevator maintenance or safety certification.
  • Gas systems safety certification.

Computer Literacy:

  • Computer literate.
  • Proficiency in:
    • MS Office.
    • Maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Languages:

English fluent.

Arabic is preferred.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in gas systems, elevator systems, or building services engineering.
  • Experience in facility management or real estate environments is preferred.
