We are seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer – Road Works to lead and supervise road and infrastructure construction activities for the Project. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage site supervision activities, coordinate with the contractor and project stakeholders, and ensure that all road works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.

Educational Qualification

  •  Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  •  BSc, BEng, BA, or equivalent qualification preferred.

Experience

  •  Minimum 15 years of total professional experience.
  •  Minimum 7 years of relevant/similar experience in road construction and infrastructure projects.
  •  Proven experience as a Resident Engineer supervising major road and infrastructure projects.
  •  Experience in large-scale road construction, infrastructure, highways, and associated civil works is preferred.
  •  Qatar/GCC project experience will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Lead and manage the supervision of all road and associated infrastructure construction activities.
  •  Ensure that road works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
  •  Provide technical direction and guidance to the site supervision team.
  •  Supervise and monitor earthworks, excavation, grading, subgrade, sub-base, road base, asphalt paving, kerbs, drainage, utilities, road markings, signage, and associated infrastructure works.
  • Review and approve, where authorized, construction drawings, shop drawings, method statements, material submissions, and technical documents.
  •  Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, quality, and progress.
  • Ensure that all construction materials and workmanship comply with approved specifications and quality requirements.
  • Review inspection requests and ensure that required inspections and testing are completed as per project requirements.
  •  Monitor road alignment, levels, gradients, compaction, pavement layers, and asphalt works.
  •  Coordinate with survey teams to verify coordinates, levels, alignments, and setting-out works.
  •  Monitor laboratory and field testing for soil, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and other construction materials.
  •  Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, client representatives, and other project stakeholders.
  •  Coordinate road works with drainage, utilities, structures, landscaping, MEP, and other disciplines to resolve site interfaces and conflicts.
  •  Identify technical issues, construction discrepancies, and potential delays and provide appropriate recommendations.
  •  Monitor project progress against the approved construction programme and identify risks to project milestones.
  •  Participate in progress, technical, and coordination meetings with the client, contractor, and consultant teams.
  •  Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, progress reports, technical correspondence, and other project documentation.
  •  Ensure compliance with project quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  •  Support the project team in resolving technical, contractual, and construction-related issues.
  •  Monitor completion, snagging, testing, and handover of road and infrastructure works.

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of road construction and infrastructure works.
  • Strong understanding of pavement construction, earthworks, drainage, utilities, asphalt, and associated civil works.
  •  Excellent knowledge of road construction specifications, testing, and quality control procedures.
  •  Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  •  Strong contractor management and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  •  Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  •  Strong communication, reporting, and project management skills.
  •  Ability to lead a site supervision team and manage multiple construction activities simultaneously.
  •  Ability to work effectively under demanding project schedules and deadlines.
