Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer – Structures to lead and oversee structural construction activities for the Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership, managing site supervision activities, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring that all structural works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • BSc, BEng, BA, or equivalent qualification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of total professional experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant/similar experience in structural engineering and construction supervision.
  • Proven experience in a Resident Engineer role on major building, infrastructure, or structural projects.
  • Experience managing structural construction works for large-scale projects is preferred.
  • Qatar/GCC project experience will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the supervision of all structural construction activities on the project.
  • Ensure that structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to the supervision team.
  • Review and approve, where authorized, structural drawings, shop drawings, method statements, material submissions, and technical documents.
  • Supervise structural works including foundations, reinforced concrete works, columns, beams, slabs, retaining structures, structural steel, and other structural elements.
  • Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, quality, and progress.
  • Ensure that construction activities comply with approved project specifications and quality requirements.
  • Review inspection requests and ensure that required inspections and testing are completed before approval.
  • Monitor reinforcement, formwork, concrete pouring, curing, structural steel erection, and other critical structural activities.
  • Coordinate with the contractor, consultant teams, client representatives, and other project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate structural works with architectural, civil, MEP, road, and other disciplines to resolve design and construction interfaces.
  • Identify technical issues, construction discrepancies, and potential delays and provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Monitor project progress against the approved construction programme and report any delays or risks.
  • Participate in technical and progress meetings with the client, contractor, consultant, and project team.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of site records, inspection reports, progress reports, technical correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Ensure all structural works comply with applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Support the project team in resolving technical, contractual, and construction-related issues.
  • Monitor completion, snagging, testing, commissioning interfaces, and handover of structural works.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager/Resident Engineer management team regarding progress, quality, technical matters, and risks.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of structural engineering, construction, and site supervision.
  • Extensive experience in reinforced concrete and structural steel construction.
  • Strong understanding of structural drawings, specifications, codes, and construction methodologies.
  • Excellent contractor and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of construction quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to lead a multidisciplinary site supervision team and manage multiple construction activities.
  • Ability to work effectively under demanding project schedules and deadlines.
