Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer – Structures to support the Resident Engineer in supervising and managing structural construction activities for the Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.
Educational Qualification
· Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
· BSc, BEng, BA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
Experience
· Minimum 10 years of total professional experience.
· Minimum 5 years of relevant/similar experience in structural construction and supervision.
· Experience in large-scale building, infrastructure, or structural projects is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising all structural construction activities on the project.
· Monitor structural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
· Supervise construction activities including reinforced concrete works, foundations, columns, beams, slabs, retaining structures, structural steel works, and other structural elements.
· Review structural drawings, specifications, method statements, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
· Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and other project disciplines.
· Monitor the quality and progress of structural works at site.
· Inspect reinforcement, formwork, concrete works, structural steel, waterproofing interfaces, and other related activities before approval.
· Review inspection requests, material submissions, shop drawings, and technical documents.
· Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved design and engineering requirements.
· Coordinate with the survey team to verify levels, dimensions, alignments, and setting-out works.
· Monitor concrete testing, material testing, inspections, and other quality control activities.
· Identify construction issues, technical discrepancies, and potential delays and report them to the Resident Engineer.
· Assist in monitoring project progress against the approved construction schedule.
· Maintain daily site records, inspection reports, progress reports, and other project documentation.
· Participate in site meetings and provide technical input on structural matters.
· Coordinate with architectural, MEP, civil, and other engineering disciplines to resolve site interfaces and conflicts.
· Ensure contractors comply with project HSE requirements, quality standards, and approved procedures.
· Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing and resolving technical and construction-related issues.
Required Skills
· Strong knowledge of structural construction and site supervision.
· Good understanding of reinforced concrete, foundations, formwork, reinforcement, concrete works, and structural steel.
· Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and technical specifications.
· Strong contractor and site coordination skills.
· Good knowledge of construction quality control and inspection procedures.
· Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
