About the job Procurement Manager ( Imports on direct procurement)
JOB PURPOSE:
To strategise and negotiate with suppliers and vendors in order to acquire the most timely and cost-effective stock and to reduce procurement expenses and lead times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and maintain procurement strategies per sub-category to ensure lowest cost and top performance over the short term and into the long term.
· Perform medium to long term planning with suppliers to align their growth strategies
· Identify supplier and supply chain risks that would put assured supply at low cost and required quality in jeopardy in the short, medium and longer term, and develop risk mitigation strategies and plans, which will include contingency plans for sole suppliers or sole supplying plants, audits, performance reviews to mention a few.
· Provide input into overall SCM strategies and plans, including planning, quality and projects.
· Manage supplier list and procurement strategies
· Spend analysis
· Develop the team capabilities in category management, strategic sourcing, and commercial understanding/negotiation, to drive down cost at every opportunity whilst ensuring reliable supply at the required quality
· Ensure the effective development, documentation and implementation of category procurement plans
· Prioritise the work of the team to ensure focus and the achievement of the Supply Chain Management strategies, plans and goals
· Develop a high performing team
· Develop and maintain a KPI scorecard system to track the performance of the team
· Drive strong support for the category management team through delivering results and performance from the suppliers, supply chain and teams
· Plan career development and growth opportunities with each team member
· Perform any other adhoc duties as and when required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Degree in Supply Chain/Procurement Commerce / Business / Engineering / Science or equivalent is essential
· 5 to 7 years Supply Chain experience with 3 years at a management level, managing a team
· Experience in identifying cost savings and driving down costs with a track record of total cost savings
· Strong project management skill is essential
· Experience in managing contract manufacturers is essential
· Strong commercial and financial understanding
· Basic technical knowledge on crop protection, plant nutrition and packing will be advantageous
· Possess excellent negotiating skills obtained from strategic or complex negotiations
