The Right Profile
Sitting at the intersection of Operations, Product, and Customer Experience, the Operations Manager role will play a key part in shaping how Selfwealth by Syfe operates as we scale in Australia.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced operator who wants to go beyond managing workflows and actively build and evolve how operations works. You'll lead a team responsible for core processes, while partnering closely with Product and Technology to design and embed new ways of operating as the platform grows.
You don't need to be a product expert—your strength is understanding how things work in practice, identifying friction, and turning complexity into simple, scalable processes.
You will lead core operational activities across settlements, cash management, and reconciliations, while introducing automation and smarter workflows to improve both customer and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management & Oversight: Manage daily cash, settlement, and reconciliation processes while serving as a senior escalation point for external vendor performance and risk mitigation.
- Process Design & Product Integration: Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to translate new feature launches into scalable, well-documented operational workflows.
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor a high-performing operations team through consistent coaching and professional capability building.
- Continuous Improvement & Transformation: Optimise organisational efficiency by identifying process bottlenecks and implementing automation and AI-driven solutions to eliminate manual tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
These are non-negotiable, basic, qualifications a candidate must have to be considered for the role (eg. degrees, professional accreditations). Limit to 4-6 key bullet points
- 4–6 years of experience in financial services or fintech operations
- Strong experience in operational processing, including cash movements and reconciliations
- Experience leading or coaching a team in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and work cross-functionally
- Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in both detail and ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to automation, AI, or workflow optimisation tools (or strong appetite to adopt them)
