Backend Developer (Senior)

What You'll do:

- Design, development, and maintenance of scalable REST and GraphQL APIs;

- Conception and implementation of microservice architectures;

- Database design (relational & NoSQL) as well as query optimization;

- Integration of third-party services and external APIs;

- Code reviews, architectural decisions, and technical documentation;

- Ensuring security standards (OWASP, OAuth2/OIDC);

- Performance analysis and optimization of existing systems;

- Close collaboration with frontend teams and Product Owners;

- Remote from Portugal; 

Who You Are:

Languages & Frameworks:

- Excellent knowledge of TypeScript / Node.js (primary) as well as Python;

- Profound understanding of API-Driven Design – including API-first approach, versioning, contract design (OpenAPI/Swagger), and consistent interface definition;

- Experience with ORM frameworks (e.g., Prisma, SQLAlchemy);

- Knowledge of message brokers: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS;

Infrastructure & DevOps:

- Experience with serverless architectures: AWS Lambda Functions and/or Azure Functions;

- Practical experience with Docker & Kubernetes;

- CI/CD pipeline setup (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins);

- Cloud knowledge: AWS, Azure, or GCP (at least one provider);

Databases

- PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle (relational);

- MongoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch (NoSQL / Caching / Search);

Soft Skills & Working Style:

- Independent, structured way of working with a high degree of personal responsibility;

- Strong communication skills in German and English;

- Experience in agile teams (Scrum / Kanban);

- Reliability in meeting deadlines and reporting;

- Willingness for transparent communication regarding progress and blockers;

Nice-to-have

Experience with Event-Driven Architecture and CQRS/Event Sourcing;

Knowledge of API Gateway solutions (Kong, AWS API Gateway);

Knowledge of SAP Commerce Cloud (formerly Hybris) – especially backend extensions, ImpEx, FlexibleSearch, and OCC-API;

Certifications: AWS Certified Developer, CKAD, or similar;

Basic knowledge of Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry);
