Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation, reliability, and efficiency of plant and machinery within a manufacturing environment. This is a multi-skilled role with a 60/40 electrical bias, focused on minimising downtime, supporting production, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all plant and machinery
  • Respond to and resolve electrical and mechanical breakdowns efficiently
  • Electrical fault-finding on PLC-controlled systems, motors, drives, and control panels
  • Perform mechanical maintenance including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and gearboxes
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of new machinery
  • Accurately log all maintenance activity within the Asset Management system
  • Ensure all work complies with HSE and GMP/GEP standards
  • Identify and contribute to improvements that enhance reliability and efficiency
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimise operational disruption

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Strong electrical fault-finding capability
  • Solid mechanical maintenance knowledge
  • Experience working in a shift-based role
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience within plastics or recycling environments
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment
  • Confident communicator with strong teamwork skills
