Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

Provide hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance support within a high-volume bakery manufacturing environment, delivering effective shift cover to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver reactive and planned maintenance across bakery processing and packing equipment
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime
• Support live production in a fast-paced, high-output environment
• Maintain and fault-find on bakery equipment including mixers, dividers, provers, ovens, conveyors, slicers, and wrapping machines
• Carry out electrical fault-finding on motors, sensors, drives, panels, and basic PLC systems
• Complete mechanical repairs including bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and pneumatics
• Work in full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
• Accurately record maintenance work and provide clear shift handovers

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in food manufacturing or bakery environments
• Strong multi-skilled fault-finding capability (electrical & mechanical)
• Experience supporting live production during shift cover
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
• A flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach

Desirable Skills:

• Electrical or Mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
• PLC fault-finding experience
• Experience with high-speed FMCG or bakery equipment
• Food safety or health & safety training
