Contract Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Bakery Environment

Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

Provide hands-on shift cover as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within a high-volume bakery manufacturing environment, ensuring production runs safely and efficiently through effective reactive and planned maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver reactive maintenance and breakdown support across production and packaging lines

• Carry out planned maintenance during shifts where required

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime

• Maintain and fault-find on bakery equipment including mixers, ovens, conveyors, slicers, and wrapping machinery

• Perform electrical fault-finding on motors, sensors, drives, panels, and basic PLC systems

• Complete mechanical repairs involving bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pneumatics, and general components

• Work in full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards

• Accurately record work completed and provide clear shift handovers

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a food manufacturing or bakery environment

• Strong multi-skilled fault-finding capability (electrical and mechanical)

• Experience supporting live production during shift cover

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Strong awareness of food safety, hygiene, and safe systems of work

• A flexible, reliable approach and the ability to adapt quickly on site

Desirable Skills:

• Electrical or Mechanical qualifications (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

• PLC fault-finding experience

• Experience with high-speed bakery or FMCG equipment

• Food safety or health & safety training
