About the job R&D Coordinator

This is a full-time office role located in Lake Forest, IL.
Our client is an entrepreneurial company that provides contract manufacturing services to the cosmetics and personal care fields. They've been in business since 2018 and have grown at a very fast pace since that time. They specialize in developing and packaging liquids, creams, and hot-fill personal care products into bottles, tubes, jars, sachets, packets, and other package formats.
This position is responsible for coordinating all R&D functions, working with cross functional departments, with customers and key raw material suppliers to help build R&D excellence. This position is a key member of the R&D team with strong opportunities for growth reporting directly to the Director of Regulatory.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with R&D, Regulatory and vendors to develop, update and maintain R&D databases. Organize and maintain all raw material technical literature including Safety Data Sheets and Certificates of Analysis, INCIs, composition breakdowns, and other essential information in order to accurately cost and provide critical documentation to our customers.
- Develop and build relationships with raw material suppliers to support R&D and Purchasing. Order and maintain inventory of new raw materials to help improve lab efficiencies and reduce lead times.
- Develop and grow strong transparent relationships with new and existing customers to provide essential support to help grow the business. Support includes raw material research, formula/raw material updates and/or changes and some regulatory documentation.
- Responsible for the electronic formula data in production systems, Markov. Responsible for the verification, development and maintenance of the data entered into, Markov, including Formula Bill of Materials (BOMs), batching instructions, change controls, etc. Work with multiple departments to manage the flow, the review of necessary documentation and signoffs of formulas, BOMs and regulatory documentation. Work with QC to build raw material and formula release specification.
- Research trends, competitive benchmarks and product ingredients to help support R&D chemists for new development.
- Research alternate suppliers for cost savings or dual sourcing projects.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Cosmetic Science, or a related field, preferred.
- High School degree minimum required.
Experience:
- Experience in cosmetic industry and/or related field. Experience in contract manufacturing preferred.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills. Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills are required in addition to the ability to adapt effectively to change priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
