Job Description – System Engineer (Junior / Senior)

Location: On-site at KTC Office, Phrom Phong, Bangkok
Employment Type: Senior (Full-time) Junior (Contract)

Position Overview

We are looking for both Junior and Senior System Engineers to support enterprise IT infrastructure for our client. The role is responsible for ensuring high availability of server infrastructure, virtualization platforms, enterprise backup systems, and operational support in a financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Server & Infrastructure Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and enterprise server infrastructure.
• Administer and support operating systems and VMware virtual environments.
• Monitor system availability and ensure infrastructure operates efficiently with minimal downtime.
• Perform system performance tuning and optimization on Linux-based operating systems.

Enterprise Backup Administration

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise backup solutions using Veritas NetBackup.
• Monitor backup jobs and ensure successful completion.
• Perform backup restoration (Restore) upon request.
• Ensure backup operations comply with defined RPO and RTO requirements.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting

• Investigate and resolve infrastructure-related incidents, including:
  • Server failures
  • Disk space issues
  • VMware/Virtual Machine issues
  • Backup failures
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
• Prepare incident reports and recommend service improvements.

System Monitoring & Health Check

• Perform regular health checks for:
  • CPU utilization
  • Memory usage
  • Disk capacity
  • Service status
  • Backup status
• Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively identify potential issues.

Audit & Compliance Support

• Support internal and external IT audits.
• Assist with compliance requirements, including PCI-DSS.
• Prepare technical documentation and provide evidence required during audits.

Junior System Engineer

Experience: Approximately 2 years
Salary: Around THB 30,000

Responsibilities

• Monitor server and infrastructure systems.
• Perform routine system health checks.
• Verify daily backup completion.
• Troubleshoot basic incidents by following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Escalate complex issues to senior engineers.

Typical Tasks

• Clear log files when disk usage is high.
• Restart failed services.
• Perform initial investigation of backup failures.
• Execute routine operational tasks according to SOPs.

Senior System Engineer

Experience: Approximately 5 years
Salary: THB 40,000–50,000

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions.
• Plan and execute system changes, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Administer VMware infrastructure, including cluster management.
• Perform capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.
• Lead technical escalations and support customer audits.

Typical Tasks

• Resolve VMware cluster issues.
• Troubleshoot storage performance degradation.
• Recover enterprise backup infrastructure.
• Resolve operating system corruption and critical system failures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Linux server administration.
• Experience with VMware virtualization.
• Experience with Veritas NetBackup is highly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure operations.
• Understanding of PCI-DSS and IT audit processes is an advantage.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a support team.
