Role Overview

Our confidential client is seeking a Senior Accountant in Riyadh to manage day-to-day accounting operations across a contracting holding company structure, ensuring accurate books, disciplined reconciliations, timely reporting, and strong financial control, while supporting coordination with internal stakeholders and contributing to reliable month-end and year-end close processes.

Key Responsibilities

You will own core accounting activities across the business and help maintain strong financial discipline through accurate recording, consistent reconciliations, effective reporting support, and coordination with operational and corporate stakeholders.

- General Ledger & Journal Control: Maintain accurate accounting records; prepare and review journal entries; ensure proper ledger classification; maintain supporting schedules and audit-ready documentation.

- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee supplier invoice processing, payment requests, customer invoicing, collections follow-up, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely settlement.

- Bank & Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations and reconcile key balance sheet accounts; investigate variances promptly and resolve outstanding items in a disciplined manner.

- Month-end & Year-end Closing: Support and execute closing activities, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and account reviews; help ensure financial data is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.

- Financial Reporting Support: Prepare schedules, working papers, and management reports; support internal reporting requirements and provide analysis on balances, trends, and variances where required.

- Project & Cost Accounting Support: Monitor project-related and operational costs across contracting activities; ensure expenses are coded correctly and recorded in the appropriate period and cost center.

- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain organized accounting files, contracts, invoices, and financial records to support audits, reviews, and compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements.

- Internal Coordination: Work closely with finance, procurement, project, and administrative teams to verify transactions, collect supporting documents, and ensure proper financial recording.

- Control & Process Discipline: Help strengthen accounting controls, identify discrepancies or documentation gaps, and support continuous improvement in reporting accuracy and process efficiency.

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- 8–10 years of accounting experience, preferably within contracting, construction, or holding company environments.

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.

- Proven experience in general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, and financial documentation control.

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting / ERP systems.

- Good analytical ability, attention to detail, and discipline in recordkeeping and follow-up.

- Ability to manage deadlines, handle multiple priorities, and coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders.

- Arabic and English communication skills are preferred.

Preferred / Nice-to-have

- Experience in a contracting holding company or multi-entity business environment.

- Familiarity with project-based accounting, cost allocation, supplier reconciliations, and operational finance support.

- Experience supporting audits, year-end closing, and financial reporting packs.

- Exposure to ERP systems used in contracting, construction, or group finance environments.

- Professional certification or progress toward one is an advantage.

Success Metrics

- Financial records are maintained accurately and updated on time with strong documentation support.

- Bank reconciliations and key account reconciliations are completed regularly with minimal aged outstanding items.

- Month-end closing activities are completed on schedule with reliable supporting schedules and fewer adjustments.

- Accounts payable and receivable processes run smoothly with timely follow-up and accurate posting.

- Project and operational costs are recorded consistently and classified correctly across the business.

- Audit and compliance readiness improves through organized files, clear documentation, and stronger control discipline.

- Reporting quality improves through more accurate balances, better variance visibility, and timely management information.

- Coordination with internal stakeholders becomes more effective, reducing delays caused by missing or incomplete financial support.
