We are looking for an individual who could become a lead mechanic (run the shop) by next year!

Summary:

The Mechanic position provides preventive and repair service (including DOTs) for the rolling stock fleet and related non-mobile powered equipment for the designated branch. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to diagnose and repair various types of construction equipment to ensure our crews make it to their customer installations on time and can perform their work in an efficient and high-quality manner. Repairs gate operators and provides field services as required to meet the needs of the branch.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. Pay is commensurate upon experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a neat orderly shop
  • Organize and prioritize work orders to meet deadlines as per Mechanic Team Lead / Management
  • Plan, coordinate, and communicate work schedule and progress to Mechanic Team Lead / Management
  • Perform DOT related inspections & repairs
  • Perform scheduled and/or unscheduled vehicle and equipment repairs
  • Diagnose and repair engines gas and diesel
  • Mounting and balancing tires
  • Knowledge in hydraulic pumps
  • Manage tool and parts inventory to ensure we have parts and tools to keep equipment moving
  • Diagnose and repair electrical on trucks and trailers
  • Repair gate operators as needed
  • Back-up for freight delivery between office locations (ND: Fargo, Bismarck, Minot, Williston, and MN: Brooklyn Park)
  • Assist in other areas as needed - have basic knowledge of the yard layout be aware of where DFC material, 3D material, and tools are stored
  • Participate in biweekly toolbox training (safety/training, workload/deadlines, product education/knowledge, etc.)
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervision

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Prior experience repairing/maintaining 1-ton diesel trucks, skid steers, small engines, and trailers. Must be a team player with a positive attitude and the ability to complete repairs in timely manner. Computer skills required and ERP experience beneficial.

Experience and Skills Required:

  1. Organizational skills to maintain work orders and meet deadlines
  2. Ability to communicate effectively, with strong public relations skills
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  4. Experience with Microsoft office products, (i.e. Word/Excel)
