The Trust for the Destruction of Synthetic Refrigerants has been operating in New Zealand for the past 30 years, managing Cool-Safe, the voluntary product stewardship scheme for the refrigeration industry.

As the reach and depth of the programme has grown significantly over the past twelve months, the CE and Trustee Board would like to appoint a Commercial Recovery Manager.

This role will be critical to the organisation as it supports the Heating, Ventilation Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVACR) industry transition to refrigerants with lower global warming potential.

The role has four key components:

  • Identifying initiatives which will increase the quantity of synthetic refrigerants collected and destroyed
  • Building long lasting and sound relationships with all stakeholders across the HVACR and other related industries such as but restricted to, the automotive sector
  • Understanding the flow of synthetic refrigerants through industry via life cycle
  • Data analysis 
  • Representing Cool-Safe with credibility and professionalism

As Commercial Recover Manager you will also be responsible for:

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The primary objectives of the Commercial Recovery Manager are to:

  • Increase the annual tonnage of synthetic refrigerants collected nationally, through the promotion of Cool-Safe's Bounty Buy-Back incentive, with sole responsibility for the Bulk Refrigerant Buy-Back programme.
  • Manage Cool-Safe's strategic relationships with their contracted stewardship scheme participants, with a particular focus on commercial and industrial refrigerant owners
  • Continuously raise the profile of the Trust's work and the rebranded product stewardship scheme Cool-Safe 
  • Improve the quality, depth and accessibility of data collected to inform business decisions, plus local and central government policy

The role of the Commercial Recovery Manager will also include the following duties:

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Meets or exceeds the monthly and annual budget of synthetic refrigerants collected for destruction by Cool-Safe, via a high-volume contact model of new and existing stakeholders
  • Directly manages all contract negotiations for bulk refrigerant purchases nationwide, with support from the CE
  • Continuously networks to develop and grow the reach and depth of the product stewardship scheme participants, in a collaborative manner which retains the existing scheme participant relationships
  • Engages in face-to-face presentations and meetings with scheme participants, predominately in the North Island, and captures meeting outcomes in Cool-Safe's client management system/database
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate within a commercially competitive market Timely completion of weekly work in progress with monthly and quarterly sales reports, for the CE and Trustees
  • Gather and report market intelligence
  • Promotes industry training and education needs
  • Encourages adherence to regulations and guidelines across the wider industry and the product stewardship programme

TECHNICAL OPERATIONS

  • Develops strong industry relationships within the refrigeration, heating, ventilation air-conditioning (RHVAC) industry build trust and respect for Cool-Safe's programme as the product stewardship organisation
  • Establishes a baseline dataset for legacy synthetic refrigerants, to inform Cool-Safe's future responsibility for its destruction Trust for the Destruction of Synthetic Refrigerants

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proven experience in business development, account management
  • High measures of commercial acumen
  • Ability to negotiate complex contract
  • Commercial contract negotiation
  • Technical sales experience and knowledge of synthetic refrigerants, their use, properties and handling would be an advantage
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills, with ability to spot new opportunities
  • A high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Manages all aspects of project delivery including risk, revenue, safety, and quality
  • Strong people and interpersonal skills including leadership, verbal communication and relationship building
  • Ability to work remotely, independently and on initiative, but also collaboratively in a high-performing team
  • Strong time-management and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate several tasks at the same time
  • Ability to travel regularly and on a weekly basis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

This is an exciting role, one where you will be travelling to meet and support and guide customers, promoting and supporting Cool-Safes purpose and goals. You will be supported by Cool-Safe to work from your home office, but you will not feel isolated from the Trust team. You will experience the collaborative culture of your fellow team members.
