About the job Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in either Heavy Construction (including bridge work, infrastructure, plant & process) or Building Construction (focusing on school and municipal markets). This position is ideal for ambitious individuals looking to advance their careers within a dynamic company. Although our headquarters is in Chicago, the worksite for this position is in Elgin, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Leadership: Support both the Project Manager and Site Superintendent in various project tasks.
  • Submittal Processing: Manage the review and processing of project submittals.
  • Information Requests: Handle requests for information and change orders from subcontractors.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate drawing documentation and process meeting minutes.
  • Pre-Construction: Assist in the preparation of scopes during the pre-construction phase.
  • Versatile Working Environment: Ability to work efficiently in both office and field settings.
  • Miscellaneous Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.

Qualifications:

  • Communication: Strong communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Organization: Highly organized with acute attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: Capable of adapting to workload fluctuations as needed.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Self-motivated and dependable, able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Technology Proficiency: Skilled in using PM Software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob, Viewpoint Vista, P6, AutoCAD, and various client-specific websites and portals.
  • Local Residency: Preference for candidates residing in the Chicagoland area.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Education: Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Industry Experience: Prior construction industry experience is a plus.
