Job Position : Compliance Officer (Coal Mining Industry)
Position Summary
The Compliance Officer ensures that the companys coal mining operations adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. This role is critical in maintaining legal compliance, promoting ethical business practices, and safeguarding the organization against regulatory and reputational risks.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor, interpret, and implement applicable laws, regulations, and permits related to coal mining, environmental management, occupational health and safety, labor, and anti-corruption.
- Ensure timely submission of mandatory reports and compliance documentation to relevant government authorities.
Policy & Procedure Development
- Develop, review, and update company compliance policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide guidance to management and operational teams to ensure compliance with both internal and external requirements.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and monitor compliance risks within the mining operations.
- Recommend preventive and corrective measures to mitigate compliance risks.
Training & Awareness
Conduct compliance training programs for employees, contractors, and management.
Promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct across the organization.
Monitoring & Auditing
- Carry out regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards.
- Report findings, recommend improvements, and follow up on corrective actions.

Liaison & Reporting
- Serve as the point of contact with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders regarding compliance matters.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and the board of directors.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Law, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, or related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of compliance, legal, or regulatory experience in the mining, energy, or heavy industries sector.
- Strong knowledge of coal mining regulations, environmental standards, and occupational health and safety laws.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity, detail-oriented, and ability to work independently under pressure.
