Position : Procurement Officer (Mining Company)
Job Summary:
The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing equipment, materials, and services required for mining operations. This role ensures timely and cost-effective procurement in compliance with company policies and industry regulations while supporting efficient mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Operations

Source and evaluate suppliers of mining equipment, spare parts, and operational materials.

Obtain and analyze quotations, negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.

Issue purchase orders (POs) and track the procurement cycle from order to delivery.
2. Vendor Management -

Build and maintain relationships with local and international vendors.

Evaluate vendor performance (quality, delivery, reliability) regularly.

Maintain an approved vendor list and update supplier records.
3. Inventory & Logistics Coordination

Collaborate with the warehouse, maintenance, and operations teams to forecast demand and avoid material shortages.

Coordinate logistics for timely delivery to remote mining sites.

Assist with customs clearance and import documentation for international purchases (if applicable).
4. Compliance & Documentation

Ensure procurement activities comply with company policy, local regulations, and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) standards.

Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and delivery notes.
5. Cost Control & Reporting

Contribute to cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

Support budget planning by providing cost estimates and market pricing trends.

Prepare procurement reports for management review (e.g., monthly procurement status, spend analysis).
Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
Min 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in mining, construction, oil & gas, or heavy industry.

Knowledge of mining-specific materials, equipment, and service vendors is a strong advantage.

Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Understanding of procurement compliance and ethical sourcing.
