About the job Naval Architect (Project Cargo)

  • Perform hull and deck structure strength assessments, including evaluation of hatch covers and above-deck stowage of heavy and project cargo.
  • Propose and design structural reinforcement and load-spreading solutions for specialty cargo securing.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, including:
  • Lashing & securing calculations (using DNV Lashcon or equivalent)
  • Stowage, securing & dunnage plans
  • Heavy lifting & rigging plans
  • Structural analysis reports and drawings
  • Provide hands-on engineering support for project bids and vessel evaluation in collaboration with Business/ Chartering teams.
  • Liaise with Classification Societies, Owners, Charterers, and Shippers to resolve disputes or technical queries on ship strength, load spreading, or cargo securing.
  • Use and apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (Femap/Nastran or equivalent) for structural simulation and validation of cargo securing solutions.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize designs and reduce operational costs while maintaining safety and compliance.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge on cargo securing, structural analysis, and heavy-lift engineering best practices.
  • File, update and maintain work database.
