Overview

We are seeking a Telecom Engineer with experience in the marine/offshore sector to support the design, integration, and delivery of onboard communication and network systems. This role will be responsible for ensuring technical excellence across project execution, from engineering design through to commissioning and client handover.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Commercial Oversight

  • Support P&L tracking and cost control for telecom-related project scopes
  • Assist in managing overall project schedules, timelines, and deliverables
  • Ensure alignment between engineering execution and commercial objectives

Client & Technical Leadership

  • Act as Client Interface Technical Authority for telecom systems
  • Provide technical clarification, presentations, and solutions to clients
  • Support pre-sales and post-award technical discussions

System Engineering & Integration

  • Lead system engineering and integration of marine telecom systems including VSAT, L-band, onboard IT networks, and communications infrastructure
  • Oversee sub-system integration across navigation, automation, and IT systems
  • Ensure compatibility, performance, and compliance with marine standards

Network Design & Engineering

  • Design and implement shipboard network architecture (LAN/WAN, satellite communications, cybersecurity considerations)
  • Develop engineering solutions based on vessel requirements and operational needs
  • Prepare and review technical specifications and system designs

Testing & Commissioning

  • Coordinate and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Provide field support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting onboard vessels or shipyards

CAD & Documentation Management

  • Manage CAD drawings and ensure accuracy of telecom layouts and schematics
  • Oversee technical drawings and document control processes
  • Maintain proper documentation within VDR (Vendor Document Register) systems

Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Provide engineering support in vendor management, including evaluation and technical alignment
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project delivery
  • Review vendor deliverables and ensure compliance with project requirements

Engineering & Operational Support

  • Provide engineering support across project lifecycle, including troubleshooting and optimization
  • Assist in administrative and reporting tasks related to engineering deliverables
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in telecom/network engineering (marine/offshore preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Satellite communications (VSAT, LEO/GEO systems)
    • Marine communication systems (GMDSS, radio systems, onboard IT networks)
    • Network design (TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Experience in system integration and commissioning in shipyard or offshore environments
  • Familiarity with FAT/SAT processes and documentation control systems (VDR)
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients and stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel for shipyard support and offshore assignments

Preferred

  • Experience working in Korea shipyards (e.g., Busan, Ulsan, Geoje)
  • Knowledge of marine classification standards (DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register)
  • Exposure to cybersecurity in maritime networks
