About the job Country Manager (Argentina)
Argentina is one of Canva's top 10 markets globally, but it has been run on autopilot. No GM on the ground, a handful of contractors, just under 6 million monthly active users, and a local playbook that does not yet exist.
Brazil and Mexico got a head start. Argentina did not. The market is smaller, scrappier, more volatile, and requires a local strategy that is not a translated version of what worked elsewhere. The low-hanging fruit across LatAm has already been pulled. The next chapter is harder and more interesting, and it needs someone who wants to build, not manage.
Why we're hiring this role now
Canva recently restructured its international organization and brought in a new International Lead to push harder on the biggest markets outside Australia and the US. Argentina sat quiet during that shift. The bar for the next GM has moved up, and the mandate is to build a real country operation, not a satellite.
This role was reopened and recalibrated after a recent mishire. The current profile leans builder over operator, with product depth as non-negotiable.
What's in it for you
You would own Canva Argentina end to end. The P&L, the growth strategy, the local playbook, the team you build over time. You would be the face of Canva in the country, representing the brand across press, events, government, and partnerships.
You would work directly with global marketing, product, content, and growth leaders. Your skip-level is Canva's International Lead. Decisions move when you can make the case for them.
Equity is part of the package. As Canva continues to scale internationally, the upside is real.
Argentina is still ground zero. The next person who takes this on gets to decide what Canva in this country actually looks like.
What success looks like
You own monthly active users and ARR for Argentina. Within your first year, the market has a clear multi-year strategy, a model that maps growth levers to outcomes, and visible local momentum (product surfaces, content, partnerships) that did not exist before you arrived.
What you'll do
This role owns Canva Argentina end to end. Concretely:
- Build and execute a multi-year growth strategy for Argentina, owning user and revenue KPIs.
- Localize Canva for Argentine users. Partner with global product and content teams on real local surfaces, pricing, packaging, and content — not adapted global templates.
- Shape and deploy the Argentina marketing budget alongside the regional marketing lead.
- Hire, coach, and grow the in-market team as the business scales. Start lean.
- Sponsor enterprise sales, education, government, and partnership relationships as the local face of Canva.
- Represent Canva publicly across press, PR, events, and community.
- Influence global teams without direct authority. Most of the people you need are not on your team.
- Build the country playbook that Canva can use to enter and scale other under-resourced LatAm markets next.
You're probably a fit if you have
- 0→1 or 1→10 building experience — you've built something with scarce resources, a lean team, and a scrappy start. Not just running an inherited operation.
- Full P&L ownership at a country or regional level. You can articulate exactly what you moved and how ("I did X, Y moved by Z%").
- Consumer or demand-side digital growth experience — not ops-heavy, not supply-side, not logistics.
- Data-led strategic thinking — you diagnose from data, build models from explicit assumptions, and can quote metric deltas across every role you've held (including roles two or three back).
- Real product depth — you can translate local insight into product requirements and hold your own with PMs. Product fluency is non-negotiable.
- End-to-end GM breadth across growth, brand, community, org building, and execution.
- Matrix operating experience — you've delivered outcomes through influence, not authority, inside a global org.
- Hands-on execution appetite — you still get in the weeds, especially in a market with almost no team on the ground.
- Humility and low ego. Personal brand over company brand is a flag.
- Sustained tenure — multiple short stints in the last 5 years with externalized explanations will not pass the top-grading stage.
- Fluent English and native-level Spanish.
- Based in Argentina or fully committed to relocating immediately. No commuter or "based in Chile" setups.
Nice to have
- Regional GM or brand/growth lead experience inside a global SaaS company.
- Founder or early-employee experience at a high-growth LatAm startup.
- Public-facing experience: press, PR, events, community.
- Network into Argentine government, enterprise, education, media, or influencer circles.
- Experience localizing a global product for Argentina or another Spanish-speaking market.
- Credible AI fluency — you've used AI meaningfully in strategic work, not just prompts for a deck.
Team and reporting
Reports directly to the Marketing Lead for LatAm. Skip-level is the International Lead (Head of International). The in-market team today is a small group of contractors (around three). Daily collaboration with global counterparts across product, content, sales, partnerships, and finance. You're an individual contributor on hire — you build the team over time.
Company snapshot
Canva is one of the most used design platforms in the world. Founded in Australia, with over 200 million monthly active users globally and valued at around USD 40 billion. LatAm is one of Canva's most penetrated regions, and Argentina is the next market leadership wants to see built properly.
