About the job Sr Paid Media Manager
Why we're hiring this role now
For years, paid media for Brazil was bought from Sydney by a centralized team that was several time zones and several context layers removed from the market. That model is done. Canva is building regional teams that sit close to the market, see what's working in real time, and make calls without an approval chain.
This seat is the in-market media buyer for Brazil — the first one. It pairs with the Creative Growth Manager (also being hired in São Paulo), who owns the briefs and creative quality bar. Together, the two seats run the full performance loop for the country.
What's in it for you
Brazil is Canva's biggest market in LatAm and a top global growth priority. The decisions you make in Meta and TikTok are decisions that show up in Canva's overall LatAm numbers.
You get real ownership of budget allocation across platforms — no routing through Sydney, no middle layer interpreting your calls. You also get the platform partnerships (Meta, TikTok, YouTube) directly.
The person who held a role similar to this before stepping up to lead all of LatAm performance marketing is now your manager. That progression is real and visible.
What you'll do
This role owns paid media execution and scale for Brazil end to end. Concretely:
- Buy and scale media in Meta, TikTok, and YouTube. Build campaigns, ad sets, audiences, and budgets directly in the platforms. Pace, optimize, and rebalance spend across creatives and channels week over week.
- Run structured creative testing at scale. Canva ships high creative volume; you decide how to test efficiently — what gets a test budget, what gets killed, what gets scaled into the larger campaigns. Avoid burning spend on creatives that haven't earned it.
- Own platform-level optimization. Daily / weekly campaign hygiene: pacing, bid adjustments, audience refreshes, placement decisions, frequency management. Move spend toward what's winning, fast.
- Surface insights back to the creative side. Read what's happening in the platform and translate it into structured patterns the Creative Growth Manager can use — which hooks, formats, angles, and CTAs are working, which aren't, what should be briefed next.
- Manage relationships with Meta, TikTok, and YouTube. Use the platform reps and beta access to push performance further than the average advertiser would.
- Report performance to Tati and the broader LatAm and global performance marketing teams — spend, efficiency, learnings, and what's coming next.
- Help build the regional playbook. This is a brand-new in-market seat; you'll be part of defining how performance media buying runs in LatAm, not inheriting a fixed system.
How this role works with the Creative Growth Manager
Tight collaboration with the Creative Growth Manager (also based in São Paulo). They own the briefs, the creator/agency management, and the call on which creatives are worth shipping. This role owns getting those creatives into market efficiently and reading the data back.
Both seats live in the platform together. You surface what's happening in the campaigns; they decide what that means for the next brief. The relationship is the engine — it doesn't work if either side waits for the other to drive.
You're probably a fit if you have
- 3+ years of active, hands-on paid media buying — inside Ads Manager every day, not directing someone else who is. You can name the campaigns you've owned and the budgets you've scaled.
- Direct execution in Meta Ads Manager: campaign setup, audience strategy, pacing, bid management, scaling, creative testing structures.
- Hands-on experience in TikTok Business Ads and/or YouTube Ads.
- Independent budget optimization — you can rebalance spend across platforms and creatives without escalating every call.
- An analytical mindset: you live in performance dashboards, identify patterns, and translate them into actionable creative or audience direction.
- A track record of feeding structured insights back to creative or growth teams — not just "these ads worked," but the why behind it.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English. Day-to-day work happens in English with global teammates; platform reps and any local agencies in Brazil work in Portuguese.
- Based in São Paulo.
Nice to have
- Experience with attribution tooling (e.g. Funnel.io) and incrementality / lift studies / MMM.
- Background at a digital-native or high-growth Brazil company (iFood, Nubank, Mercado Livre, Shopee, Uber, Rappi, etc.) or a CSM / Account Manager seat at Meta or TikTok working with large advertisers.
- Experience having owned both buying and creative briefing earlier in your career (smaller org) — strong signal for the cross-functional relationship with the Creative Growth Manager.
- AI tools woven into your workflow.
- Spanish proficiency.
Team and reporting
Reports directly to Tati, Performance Marketing Lead for LatAm. Pairs with the Creative Growth Marketing Manager in São Paulo, the creative production team, and Canva's global performance marketing and data science functions. Individual contributor — no direct reports.
Company snapshot
Canva is one of the most used design tools in the world, with over 200 million users across 190 countries. It grew from a startup into a global brand without losing its obsession with the product. Brazil is a top-priority market in LatAm, and this role sits at the center of that.
