We are supporting a leading Swiss research & technology organisation looking for a Power Electronics Converter Design Engineer to join an advanced R&D team in Zurich.

This is a hands-on opportunity to develop next-generation power conversion technology, working from concept and design through to real hardware, testing and characterisation.

Your Role

Design and develop power electronic converters
Optimise, implement and characterise converter systems
Build, test and validate hardware in a laboratory environment
Support integration into complex engineering systems
Analyse performance, troubleshoot and optimise prototypes
Work alongside engineers and scientists in an interdisciplinary R&D environment

Your Profile

The key requirement is hands-on experience designing power electronic converters.

PhD, MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or similar
For BSc/MSc candidates, relevant professional converter-design experience
Experience in the design, optimisation, implementation and characterisation of power electronic converters
Strong knowledge of converter topologies and power electronics hardware
Experience taking designs from concept/simulation into physical hardware
Professional English – German is a plus

Highly Desirable – Not Essential

Experience with any of the following would be particularly interesting:

High-current / multiphase DC-DC converters
Cryogenic systems or cryogenic electronics
Radiation-hardened electronics
Advanced industrial or scientific power electronics

No cryogenics experience? No problem. Candidates from different industries are welcome – strong power electronics converter design experience is what matters most.
