About the job Senior Options Trader (New York)
Options Trader | New York (Remote for now) | Mid-Senior / Senior | Confidential Search
Picture this: a proprietary desk with real risk appetite, a mandate that spans traditional derivatives and digital assets, and no committee standing between your thesis and the trade. You'll run and continually sharpen options trading strategies across global markets — sizing positions, managing volatility exposure, and partnering with an in-house team of quants and developers who build the tools around your ideas rather than the other way round. This is a money-maker's seat: your PnL is the scoreboard, and a strong track record here opens the door to building and leading a desk, not just sitting on one.
WHY THIS ROLE
Our client is a privately-owned, multi-strategy trading firm with a genuinely global book — proprietary capital, no external investor pressure, and a culture built around traders who can back their own judgement. It's a lean, high-performance environment: flat structure, fast decisions, and direct exposure to firm capital from day one. Digital assets are a growing part of the mandate, so prior crypto or digital-asset options experience will set you apart.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Developing, implementing, and continuously optimizing options trading strategies across global markets.
- Analyzing market data and applying quantitative models to identify and capture profitable opportunities.
- Owning risk exposure on your book, keeping strategies aligned with the firm's risk framework.
- Partnering closely with in-house quants and developers to refine trading algorithms and tooling.
- Executing and managing positions with a sharp eye on execution quality and liquidity.
- Staying ahead of the market narrative — news, macro events, and shifts in volatility that move options pricing.
- Contributing to the ongoing build-out of the firm's trading systems and technology stack.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A strong, provable track record in options trading — several years at mid-senior to senior level, with real PnL to show for it.
- A quantitative mindset: comfortable pulling insight from data and translating it into a trading decision, fast.
- Solid grounding in options pricing, volatility, and risk management.
- A degree in Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a strong university.
- Programming exposure (Python, C++, or similar) is a genuine plus, not a requirement.
- Crypto / digital-asset trading experience — highly valued, though not essential.
- A self-motivated, results-driven streak — this is a seat for someone who wants to be measured on output.
