Role Overview

The role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and compliant preparation, submission, and follow-up of customs declarations. Acting as a key point of contact between operations, customers, and customs authorities, the position ensures smooth customs clearance and regulatory compliance.


(This position is available on-site in Porto or Lisbon)


Key Responsibilites:

  • Review, analyze, and validate supporting documentation for customs declarations;
  • Classify products (tariff, origin, value) and prepare customs entries according to legal requirements and best practices;
  • Ensure all mandatory documentation is attached, properly filed, and archived;
  • Monitor the status of customs clearance and take action to resolve issues, liaising with customs authorities when necessary;
  • Coordinate or participate in physical inspections, schedule inspections, and ensure goods are available for review;
  • Notify line management, customs authorities, or forwarding agents in case of anomalies, irregularities, or disputes;
  • Maintain strong working relationships and clear communication with customs authorities, internal teams, and customers;
  • Report process deviations or non-conformities in line with company procedures;
  • Work closely with QHSE to follow the quality management system and report any quality issues;
  • Adhere to and promote Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) standards and quality procedures.

Requirements:

  • Senior-level experience in customs clearance or brokerage within logistics or freight forwarding;
  • Strong understanding of customs legislation and procedures;

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and document control;
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
