About the job System Administrator

Responsible for day-to-day provisioning and operational maintenance related to customers' and internal server infrastructure. Primary responsibilities include day to day operational activities, updating infrastructure services, providing all aspects of infrastructure monitoring and support, and creating technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Install and configure software and hardware
  • Manage network servers and technology tools
  • Set up accounts and workstations
  • Ensure the highest level of availability, reliability and performance for all systems
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Understanding, identification and prevention of network-based attacks
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Provide technical support to staff and customers according to established SLAs
  • After hours and weekend work required on occasion and on-call for disaster recovery purposes

Skills & Attributes:

  • Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms, primarily Windows Server 2012+ and Windows 10
  • Strong database administrator skills (SQL Server 2017+) with experience in database design, optimization, performance tuning, maintenance and backups, replication, and high availability
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Server, Active Directory, Clustering, SQL, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Understanding of the SDLC and exposure to agile development
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate between teams
  • Enthusiasm and aptitude for learning new skills and practices
  • Experience to build strong partnerships with stakeholders both internal and external
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to logically analyse complex requirements, processes and systems
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure
