About the job Technical Service Manager – Printing Inks (Water & Solvent Based)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to support customers in the wide web flexographic and gravure printing markets. This role serves as the primary technical interface for customers using water-based and solvent-based inks and coatings in flexible packaging applications.
The Technical Service Manager is responsible for delivering expert technical support, leading press-side activities, and ensuring successful product performance. This position works closely with customers and internal teams to drive technical excellence, customer satisfaction, and business growth.
Frequent travel to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, and regional meetings is required.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage technical support activities for wide web flexographic and gravure printing customers

Provide on-site troubleshooting, ink optimization, and print performance evaluations

Plan and execute press trials, product introductions, and technical audits at customer facilities

Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, sales, manufacturing, and regulatory, to deliver effective technical solutions

Support customer retention and growth by developing and executing technical service strategies

Serve as a trusted technical resource for customers, ensuring proper product use and performance
Required Experience & Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of technical experience supporting wide web flexographic and/or gravure printing

Hands-on experience with water-based and solvent-based inks and coatings for flexible packaging

Strong understanding of pressroom operations, ink/substrate interactions, drying systems, and surface treatments

Demonstrated ability to independently manage customer-facing technical projects

Proficiency in color matching, print troubleshooting, and defect analysis

Willingness and ability to travel up to 70%
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with color management systems (e.g., X-Rite or similar)

Knowledge of lamination, coating, and post-print converting processes

Familiarity with VOC compliance, safety standards, and environmental regulations
