As part of their ongoing expansion and commitment to operational excellence, they are seeking an experienced Chef (Asian Cuisine) to join their team!
Job Summary
The Chef is responsible for running a designated section of the kitchen, ensuring that food preparation and presentation meet restaurant's quality standards. This role includes supervising junior Chefs, maintaining hygiene, and supporting seniors and Executive Chef in daily operations.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes within the assigned section.
- Supervise and train junior chefs and kitchen staff.
- Maintain portion control and consistency across all menu items.
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented in line with recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and hygiene in the assigned section and storage areas.
- Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth service.
- Report stock needs, maintenance issues, or operational concerns to seniors.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior Chefs and Kitchen Hands.
- Follow and enforce all food safety, hygiene (HACCP), and workplace safety standards.
- Ensure kitchen staff under supervision maintain cleanliness, grooming, and professional behavior.
- Support the team in following company's safety, fire, and emergency procedures.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Proficient in Asian Cuisine.
- Culinary qualification or relevant certification preferred.
- Strong cooking skills with attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Positive team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Candidate must be able to speak fluently in English & Mandarin OR Cantonese (role needs to liaise with Mandarin speaking customers and counterparts)
- Candidate must be willing to relocate to New Zealand.
