Head of Finance, DR Congo

About the role
Our client, an established mining and resources group, is hiring a Head of Finance to lead the finance function at its operations in Lubumbashi. You will own financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and tax and statutory compliance, and act as the main finance partner to site and country leadership.
This role is based in Lubumbashi, DR Congo. Candidates must be ready to be assigned and live in the country.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the finance team in Lubumbashi, covering accounting, payables, treasury, tax, and reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under IFRS and submit them to group finance on schedule.
- Build and manage the annual budget, forecasts, and capital expenditure plans for mining operations.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and funding requirements for the site.
- Ensure compliance with DRC tax, mining royalty, customs, and statutory requirements, and manage relationships with local authorities and external auditors.
- Strengthen internal controls and audit readiness.
- Advise site management on costs, margins, and investment decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, plus a professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years of finance experience, with at least 3 years in a head of finance, finance manager, or equivalent leadership role.
- Proven experience in the mining industry. This is essential.
- Experience in the Africa region or DR Congo is preferred.
- Willingness to be assigned to Lubumbashi, DR Congo, on a long-term basis.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS.
- Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
