Job Purpose:

The main purpose of this position is to provide strategic leadership and effective management of commercial and contractual matters to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This includes overseeing contract administration, cost management, and commercial risk mitigation in alignment with corporate requirements, ensuring financial interests are safeguarded and minimizing exposure to undue risks.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Commercial/Business Development 20%

  • Oversee the external cost consultants preparation of variations and payments throughout project durations.
  • Collaborate with consultants and contract administrators (acting as the Engineer) to influence positive commercial outcomes on projects.

Operations Management 30%

  • Analyze project correspondence and advise internal team members on commercial-related matters to eliminate and mitigate risk.
  • Review external cost consultants and contract administrators preparation of payment recommendations and certificates throughout project durations to ensure funds are properly allocated in accordance with contract provisions.
  • Review variations submitted by external cost consultants and contract administrators to ensure appropriate substantiation and compensation.
  • Hold regular project cost meetings to establish and review project costs against budgets.
  • Represent the client at project cost meetings to ensure efficient information flow.

Governance and Process Management 20%

  • Review documentation and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate governance.
  • Manage the value of variations and internal approvals to ensure compliance with corporate governance and processes.
  • Continuously review and improve processes in line with corporate standards.

Organizational Management 20%

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the correct quality.
  • Perform and oversee staff performance reviews (PDRs) to monitor and reward team performance.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Other Duties 10%

  • Handle confidential information with discretion and judgment, as needed.
  • Take on other duties as required.

Operating Environment:

  • Office-based role with requirements to work extended hours on a computer.
  • Travel to project sites to attend coordination and progress meetings as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Education: University degree or diploma in quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of industry-relevant experience, including 7 years of experience within the UAE/GCC.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Oracle. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to effectively manage large-scale projects and teams.
