Role Overview
The Programme Officer will support the implementation of environment and climate change programmes, with a strong focus on research, policy engagement, and programme delivery support.
This role is suited for an early-career professional with strong analytical, research, and coordination skills, and an interest in environmental and natural resource management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Implementation Support
- Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of environment and climate change programmes
- Contribute to the development of project concepts, briefs, and technical documentation
- Provide technical input on environmental and natural resource management issues
- Support engagement with government, partners, and stakeholders in policy dialogue processes
- Contribute to the integration of strategic priorities into programme activities
- Prepare briefs and analytical reports on environmental and climate-related issues
2. Knowledge Management & Coordination
- Support the coordination of programme activities, including meetings and stakeholder engagements
- Identify and compile relevant information on policy and programme-related issues
- Contribute to documentation of best practices and lessons learned
- Support knowledge-sharing initiatives, including trainings and internal learning sessions
- Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice
- Perform any other duties as assigned in support of programme objectives
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Forestry, Food Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (including internships or graduate programmes)
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills (e.g., academic research papers or contributions)
- Basic understanding of the project cycle (design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams and in field settings
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines
Remuneration
- Monthly Basic salary: UGX 1,000,000 – UGX 1,500,000
- Additional benefits may apply in line with organisational policy
