Role Overview

The Programme Officer will support the implementation of environment and climate change programmes, with a strong focus on research, policy engagement, and programme delivery support.

This role is suited for an early-career professional with strong analytical, research, and coordination skills, and an interest in environmental and natural resource management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Implementation Support

  • Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of environment and climate change programmes
  • Contribute to the development of project concepts, briefs, and technical documentation
  • Provide technical input on environmental and natural resource management issues
  • Support engagement with government, partners, and stakeholders in policy dialogue processes
  • Contribute to the integration of strategic priorities into programme activities
  • Prepare briefs and analytical reports on environmental and climate-related issues

2. Knowledge Management & Coordination

  • Support the coordination of programme activities, including meetings and stakeholder engagements
  • Identify and compile relevant information on policy and programme-related issues
  • Contribute to documentation of best practices and lessons learned
  • Support knowledge-sharing initiatives, including trainings and internal learning sessions
  • Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of programme objectives

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Forestry, Food Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (including internships or graduate programmes)
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills (e.g., academic research papers or contributions)
  • Basic understanding of the project cycle (design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and in field settings
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines

Remuneration

  • Monthly Basic salary: UGX 1,000,000 – UGX 1,500,000
  • Additional benefits may apply in line with organisational policy
