Job Openings Manager, Finance & Accounts

About the job Manager, Finance & Accounts

Company Description

Our client is a global EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) and chemical safety compliance software platform, headquartered in Norway with offices in the US, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. The Dhaka office is a full-function hub housing all of the teams — engineering, marketing, sales, customer support, operations, and more. They are a fast-moving team, and finance sits close to the business.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a Manager, Finance & Accounts to own the finance function for the Bangladesh entity and oversee the books for the US entity. The selected candidate will manage cash flow, keep the company fully compliant on VAT and tax, and critically secure and maximize the government cash incentives available on the company's export earnings. This is a controllership and driver role: you own outcomes, review and sign off on the work, and chase receivables and incentives with persistence.

Key Responsibilities

Bangladesh finance & accounting

  • Own the integrity of the books and the monthly/quarterly/annual close for the Bangladesh entity — review and sign off on entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Manage cash flow: forecasting, working-capital planning, bank balances, and liquidity across accounts.
  • Oversee payroll, vendor payments, and expense management, and approve disbursements.
  • Own banking relationships and ensure a clean, audit-ready set of books at all times.

Export remittance & government incentives (high priority)

  • Ensure all export/service proceeds are repatriated correctly through proper banking channels and fully documented (inward remittance, EXP/encashment certificates, and related paperwork)
  • Proactively pursue and maximise government cash incentives/subsidies on IT/ITES export earnings — prepare and file claims, assemble the required documentation, and follow through relentlessly with the Authorized Dealer (AD) bank and Bangladesh Bank until incentives are received.
  • Liaise with AD bank branches on all remittance, incentive, and export-documentation matters.
  • Secure and maintain the industry association memberships and government registrations required to qualify for export incentives and benefits (e.g., BASIS and other applicable bodies).
  • Stay current on changes to export incentive rules, rates, and eligibility so they never leave money on the table.

Taxation & VAT compliance

  • Manage corporate income tax, withholding/advance income tax, and VAT (including VDS) — filings, returns, deposits, challans, and mushak documentation on time, every time.
  • Liaise with the NBR, tax consultants, and external auditors.
  • Track and apply tax exemptions and benefits available to IT/software exporters.
  • Keep the company fully compliant and audit-ready across all statutory obligations.

Accounts receivable & collections

  • Own the full AR cycle: oversee invoicing, drive systematic follow-up, monitor ageing, and lead collections.
  • Maintain clear visibility over outstanding invoices and drive them to closure — this is a significant, ongoing part of the role.
  • Establish reporting/dashboards so receivables never slip through the cracks.

US entity accounting

  • Own the accuracy of the US entity's books, maintained in the relevant accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or Xero).
  • Oversee reconciliations and intercompany transactions, and ensure records stay clean and current.
  • Support US tax filings and compliance in coordination with the external CPA/accountant.

Reporting & controls

  • Produce monthly management reporting: P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow for both entities.
  • Support statutory and internal audits.
  • Strengthen financial controls, processes, and documentation as the business scales.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally in IT/software, export-oriented, or multinational businesses.
  • Professional qualification — CA / ACCA / CMA (qualified or part-qualified), or an MBA/Master's in Accounting or Finance.
  • Hands-on experience with Bangladesh VAT and tax compliance and NBR processes.
  • Direct experience with export remittance procedures and Bangladesh Bank cash-incentive claims — this is essential.
  • Familiarity with US bookkeeping and accounting software (QuickBooks/Xero).
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
  • Exceptional follow-through: organized, detail-oriented, and persistent in chasing incentives and receivables to completion.
  • Strong written and spoken English (you'll work with US and Norway-based stakeholders).
  • High integrity and comfort operating with autonomy in a lean environment.
  • Track record of successfully claiming IT/ITES export cash incentives.
  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency accounting.
  • Familiarity with the BASIS ecosystem and export-related regulatory landscape.
