About the job HSE Specialist

Job Purpose:

To oversee and implement health, safety, and environmental practices across all company operations ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards while promoting a safe and sustainable work environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure compliance with local HSE laws, environmental regulations, and company standards
  2. Support implementation and maintenance of HSE Management Systems (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001)
  3. Participate in internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of findings
  4. Conduct risk assessments (HIRA/JSA/JHA) for operational and project activities
  5. Identify hazards and implement control measures following the hierarchy of controls
  6. Monitor effectiveness of mitigation measures and recommend improvements
  7. Perform routine and ad-hoc site inspections
  8. Monitor workplace conditions, equipment safety, and contractor activities
  9. Develop and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  10. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses using structured methodologies (RCA, ICAM, 5-Why)
  11. Prepare detailed reports with actionable recommendations
  12. Analyze incident trends and KPIs to support continuous improvement
  13. Develop and maintain emergency response plans
  14. Coordinate and evaluate emergency drills
  15. Ensure readiness and inspection of emergency equipment
  16. Conduct HSE inductions and toolbox talks
  17. Promote safety awareness practices
  18. Support competency development in critical HSE areas
  19. Monitor environmental aspects (waste, emissions, pollution prevention)
  20. Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting requirements
  21. Support sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives
  22. Maintain accurate HSE documentation (policies, procedures, permits, records)
  23. Prepare periodic reports, dashboards, and performance metrics
  24. Ensure proper document control and accessibility
  25. Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders on HSE matters
  26. Support client and regulatory inspections and audits
  27. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data and best practices
  28. Encourage reporting of unsafe acts and near-misses


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration

Experience

  • 3 years of experience in HSE roles specially in oil & gas or construction fields

Languages

  • Fluent in English (Written & Spoken)

Required Competencies

  • Strong understanding of electrical hazards, high-voltage safety, and power plant operations.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, audits, and safety training programs.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in HSE management systems and reporting tools.
  • Certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) is a plus
