About the Role

We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Estimator to join our team. This role is critical in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and project documentation. Your work will serve as the backbone of our bidding process, directly influencing profitability and our ability to win new business.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Analysis and Estimation (60%)

  • Analyze project plans, blueprints, specifications, and related documentation to prepare accurate estimates for time, cost, materials, and labor.

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and request pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Use estimating software and spreadsheets to calculate and verify costs.

  • Identify and account for potential risks such as material shortages, market fluctuations, delays, and emergencies.

Bid Preparation and Submission (25%)

  • Compile comprehensive and professional bid proposals outlining scope, timelines, and cost breakdowns.

  • Coordinate with sales and project management teams to review, refine, and finalize bid submissions.

  • Submit all bids within required deadlines.

Collaboration and Process Improvement (15%)

  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits when required.

  • Work with project managers to compare estimated costs against actual project costs and analyze variances.

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of material pricing, vendor quotes, and subcontractor rates.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve estimating efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications and Must-Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in an estimating role

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents

  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience using estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, or similar)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work onsite during EST business hours

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field

  • Experience with specific industry software or specialized estimating tools

  • Strong understanding of bidding processes, cost structures, and contract types
