The Role
The Bureau Analyst is responsible for auditing and validating energy bills to ensure accuracy and compliance with client contracts and usage data. This role involves reviewing billing statements, identifying discrepancies, and collaborating with clients, utility suppliers, and internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate utility billing, improving data quality, and identifying opportunities for cost savings through detailed analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Bill Auditing & Validation
- Review and analyze energy bills to verify accuracy against client contracts and consumption data.
- Identify billing discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Validate invoices in accordance with established procedures and service level agreements.
- Ensure timely completion of bill validation activities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze billing and consumption data using internal systems and software tools to identify trends and anomalies.
- Prepare reports highlighting validation results, billing discrepancies, corrections, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of validation activities, supporting documentation, and client communications.
- Liaise with utility suppliers and vendors to investigate and resolve billing issues.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve bill validation processes and operational efficiency.
- Support the implementation of process enhancements, automation initiatives, and best practices.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all validation activities comply with company policies, client agreements, and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and professionalism in all work performed.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the team.
About You
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience analyzing and accurately processing high volumes of quantitative data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to create clear, accurate, and meaningful reports from complex datasets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team.
Preferred
- Previous experience within the energy, utilities, or related industry.
- Experience working with billing validation, invoice auditing, or data reconciliation is advantageous.
