Role Overview

The company is seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Designer / Operator to support engineering and construction teams by preparing, updating, and managing electrical drawings and model documentation. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with AutoCAD, familiarity with Revit, and drafting or design experience in construction, building, MEP, or electrical contracting. (A formal electrical engineering degree is not required.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and update 2D AutoCAD drawings for electrical systems (lighting layouts, cable/conduit routes, panel schedules, etc.)

  • Translate conceptual designs and site sketches into detailed CAD deliverables in coordination with engineers and field teams

  • Develop and maintain Revit models for electrical systems within BIM projects

  • Coordinate workflows between AutoCAD and Revit to maintain accuracy and consistency in design outputs

  • Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers, clients, and on-site personnel

  • Conduct basic clash detection or coordination with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, architectural) using BIM tools

  • Prepare construction and as-built drawings

  • Maintain drawing archives, versioning, and drawing standards

  • Support estimating through quantities, conduit routes, cable lengths, and panel layout information

  • Assist with project documentation such as markups, transmittals, RFIs, and drawing logs

  • Participate in coordination or design review meetings to present CAD/BIM updates and raise issues

Qualifications / Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years as a CAD or Revit drafter/designer, ideally in construction, MEP, or contracting

Software Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (2D) with extensive hands-on experience

  • Experienced in Revit, especially related to electrical/BIM coordination

  • Familiarity with Navisworks or other clash-detection tools is an advantage

Core Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify design inconsistencies

  • Good communication skills for coordination with engineers and project teams

  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and revisions

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work with cross-functional teams

  • Adaptable to company design standards and project workflows

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Electrical design experience (lighting, power distribution, panelboards)

  • Knowledge of building codes or construction standards (e.g., NEC)

  • Experience coordinating across disciplines within a BIM environment

  • Exposure to commercial or large-scale residential project work
