AI Systems Engineer

Target Compensation: $110K–$150K base
Overview
We are partnering with a growing, innovation-focused manufacturing organization to add an AI Systems Engineer to their internal technology team. This is a hands-on role working directly with senior AI leadership to design and deploy practical AI solutions integrated into core business systems and operations.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys building real-world AI applications—not just models—across ERP, automation, and operational workflows.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and maintain AI-powered applications and internal tools
- Develop APIs, backend services, and system integrations supporting AI workflows
- Partner on initiatives including:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- LLM-based applications and AI agents
- Intelligent document processing & OCR systems
- Workflow automation and AI-assisted operations
- ERP data integrations and reporting dashboards
- Design and optimize data pipelines and structures for AI use
- Identify opportunities to automate business processes using AI
- Contribute in a fast-moving, collaborative development environment
Core Technical Requirements (Must-Have)
- Strong Python development skills (backend-focused)
- Experience building or contributing to AI/ML applications or intelligent systems
- Solid understanding of:
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- RAG architectures
- Embeddings/vector search
- AI workflow orchestration
- Experience with:
- API development and system integration
- SQL / data handling
- Comfortable working across backend systems, data, and AI layers
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with AI tooling/frameworks such as:
- LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Ollama
- FastAPI
- PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Familiarity with:
- Docker, Linux environments, and GPU-based systems
- Exposure to ERP systems, manufacturing, or operations tech
Background
- Bachelor's degree in CS, AI, ML, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Open to candidates with professional, academic, or project-based AI experience
