We're partnering with a growing security‑technology integrator in Tulsa to find an experienced Troubleshooting & Programming Technician. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, solving problems in the field, and working independently with clients.
Position Overview
In this role, you'll support commercial clients by installing, programming, servicing, and troubleshooting access control, CCTV surveillance systems, and phone systems. You'll work both independently and as part of a team to ensure systems are installed correctly, configured properly, and operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
System Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and resolve issues across access control, CCTV, and phone systems
- Test system functionality and document configurations
- Perform upgrades, expansions, and system integrations
Installation & Programming
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot camera systems (including NVR/DVR setups)
- Program access control components, such as door controllers and card readers
- Run, terminate, and test cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, low-voltage, etc.)
Field Work
- Work independently onsite across Oklahoma (some overnight travel required)
- Maintain accurate service documentation
- Provide professional client-facing communication and problem-solving
Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience with access control and/or IP camera systems
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience in programming and configuring security systems
- Familiarity with IP networking basics (DHCP, static IP, PoE, switches)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Comfortable working on ladders and lifting 50+ lbs
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Willingness to travel throughout Oklahoma
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Access Control Systems
- Reader/credential programming (RFID, NFC, biometric)
- Door controller configuration
- Alarm integration and lockdown functionality
- Reporting and access management
Networking & Low Voltage
- IP addressing, basic switch configuration
- Cat5e/Cat6 termination and testing
- RS‑485, Wiegand protocols
Tools & Equipment
- Cable testers, toners, multimeters
- Network diagnostic tools
- Punch-down tools, crimpers, standard hand/power tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Keyscan training or certification
- Experience with ACTi, Hikvision, or Lorex systems
- Low-voltage or security installer license
- Structured cabling or commercial installation background
Compensation
$50,000 – $60,000 annually, depending on experience
