We currently have permanent role as a Intermediate Collateral Management Analyst with our large consulting client on a long term project with a major financial services client in the downtown Montreal area.

Role: Intermediate Collateral Management Analyst

Type: Fulltime, Perm

Location: Hybrid - Downtown Montreal, QC -(roles starts off 5 days in office for 1st 3 months, then turns into hybrid setup 3 days onsite, 2 days from home)

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 + 9% bonus + 3-4 weeks paid vacation + RRSP contribution + benefits + sick/personal days

Position Overview


  • Deliver day-to-day operational services to client's Banking and Investor Solutions (GBIS) business lines, supporting their transformation through agile, industrialized, and technology-driven approaches.
  • Ensure operational processing and control of activities across Capital Markets, Financing, and ex-Newedge business lines.
  • Perform operational, administrative, and financial processing of capital markets and credit operations.
  • Ensure control and security of transaction processing in compliance with current financial regulations and act as first level of control on operations and booking quality.
  • Provide full lifecycle transaction support, including Know Your Customer (KYC) processing and general client relationship management.
  • Support regulatory projects and oversee external service providers.
  • Reduce counterparty risk by negotiating and administering collateral annex provisions for master agreements across derivatives, repo, securities lending, clearing, and prime brokerage.
  • Monitor exposure levels versus collateral balances across multiple asset classes including equities, rates, FX, credit, commodities, fixed income, structured, and financing products.
  • Instruct margin calls, calculate interest, and process payment/receive orders in accordance with collateral documentation.
  • Book collateral movements as agreed with counterparties.
  • Interact with Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Audit teams globally.
  • Take required actions in the event of counterparty default.
  • Select optimal collateral based on contract terms, collateral optimization processes, and defined strategies.
  • Raise alerts for unusual client activity and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Attend client meetings to represent collateral activities.
  • Manage collateral disputes, including reconciliation of trade and MTM discrepancies, investigation, follow-up, and coordination of remediation plans.
  • Ensure all client and internal requests are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Write operating procedures and relay daily issues to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Champion initiatives to improve client service, process efficiency, controls, and cost savings.
  • Assist with and/or train collateral analysts in a global operating environment.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Investment Banking and Capital Markets.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, accounting, and financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to assess changing market conditions and their impact on clients.
  • Strong attention to detail, numeracy skills, and ability to prioritize work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to apply procedures and guidelines while assessing risks and opportunities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional and mature communication skills when interacting with clients, team members, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships across organizational boundaries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Business.
  • Fluency in English and French.

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of collateral management legal documentation including CSAs, MSFTAs, MRAs, securities lending agreements, and clearing agreements.
  • Experience across derivatives, repo, securities lending, and financing products.
  • Good working knowledge of VERMEG Colline collateral management platform.
